"Cast me not off in the time of old age, forsake me not when my strength faileth" Psalm 71:9 |
June NewsLetter Hello to all of again Its already June! Where does the time go? God is really blessing in the nursing homes. We have met new residents and have enjoyed visiting with them. June 3 Cedar Hills- Its another training day for David so he wasn't able to come. I am losing my voice, I have this laryngitis with a dry cough. I was SO glad that the Nobles and Sis. Gracie came to help. Bro.Noble led the singing and brought of message of sister Susan helped sing. Praise to lord for his goodness! They are a tremendous and blessing to us. We learned that several of the residents were in the hospital, two of them had broken hips, please pray for the residents in the area of falling and breaking bones. June 5 Alterra- We had another good service today! We met Marjorie Johnson, a new resident. We learned of one resident passing, Marty Nelson. Another resident was moved abruptly by her son, this one was Flo, She was the one that believed in re-incarnation. Before we could talks to her again, she we gone. We were sorry to see them go. I again did not have a voice and David had to sing solo until Sis. Noble and Sis. Joan from the church came and boy did they sound good singing! A tremendous blessing! June 10 Cedar Hills- I have to go to the doctor today. I have bronchitis so I miss the services, but I heard the ladies came to help David out and the services were good. There were a few residents in the hospital with broken hips. Mrs. Butler was one with a broken hip. David went to visit her after the service and she was in good spirits and was glad he came to visit her. June 12 Life Care Center- David is in training today. I arrived early so I went to visit a little with Mr. Watkins. He had just returned from a reunion of the 6th Calvary in Tennessee. He made the trip by car and brought his nurse. He said there was a mile long parade and he was in the front car. How exciting for a 99 yr old man! He was the oldest living man that rode horses in the 6th Calvary. They had a luncheon and he was at the head table next to LT. Mr. Watkens asked if his nurse could sit with him where the LT. Sat. He was very tired and didn't make the services as that is a long trip for a man his age. The services went well. All the people from the church came to help, I was so glad as my voice has not fully returned yet. June 19 Alterra- We had a nice service today, even though the devil was using one lady to disrupt the service. David was preaching and the lady would stand up and sit down, several times she did this, then turned around to look at David, I thought something may be wrong with her so 1 went to ask her if she we alright. She said No! He talk to much! She got up and left and we finished the service. Afterwards, I talked with Mrs. Acker, a nice lady. I gave her a hug and ask her if that felt good and she said yes, I told her I loved her and if I didn't we wouldn't be there. I asked Mrs. Acker if any family come to see her and she said no. It really burdens my heart how they are left alone and no family comes to see them. They look so sad. Many in the last month have gone to be with the Lord, they are better off in heaven than in a nursing home where no family comes to visit. Please pray for the nursing home residents, most are discouraged and lonely. The rest of this months meetings went well. I spoke to Mr. Watkins at Life Care Center and he told me more stories of his time in Papua New Guinea. He's most interesting. Please continue to pray for the elderly in of nursing homes; Also pray for us to keep ministering to them as they need to hear the Gospel of salvation, encouragement and uplifting. Thank you for all your prayers and donations.. In Christ, Pat, David & Rachel Sounds of Joy Ministries Ministry Family 446 Halsema Rd. N. Jacksonville, Fla. 32220 |
