"Cast me not off in the time of old age, forsake me not when my strength faileth" Psalm 71:9 |
August NewsLetter Hello Ministry Partners, Well August is upon us. We have designated this month as what we coined “Prayer Pal Month.” As to date we have 4 folks who have signed up to pray for a total of 9 people. We (the Tacks) are stabilizing a bit and getting used to Pat being in the work field and Rachel will be starting school soon. Please remember the school children (and teachers) in prayer this month. Aug 6th, Cedar Hills- We had some great music and Merrill blessed us with several specials. The folks sang out and I saw a lot of smiles out in the congregation. We had no preaching because God was blessing us in song today. Aug 9th, Life Care Center- God was in the midst of our services today. I was impressed upon to preach out of the 23rd Psalm earlier this morning. What a blessing to know what a great, forgiving, loving, providing, shepherd we have. Shasta, Mark Christopher and Victoria came. Victoria played the maracas (or as Shasta said, the big rattles) for us. As Victoria shook them they would eventually slip out of her hands but the residents really enjoyed watching Victoria shake, shake, shake! Pray for Everett Watkins, who turned 101 YOA, Aug 1st; we are having a birthday party for him on Saturday. Pray for the staff at Life Care Center, they are terrific people and it really takes a special person to do what they are doing! Aug 13th, Cedar Hills- Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Category 4 Charley, we had to cancel our services. It was a good call as we had a torrential downpour at the time of our services and it is very likely we would have never been able to get in the door. We also have to re-schedule our Saturday afternoon 101st birthday party for Everett Watkins! We are thankful for the safe keeping of our Lord and ask continued prayer fro those who were heavily hit and had their homes damaged. Aug 16th, West Jax- There shall be showers of blessings! We sang and preached and enjoined ourselves to God for worship to Him. Mrs. Hughes was there and I thank God for the Prayer Pal who we have praying for her this month! Her eyes are still bad and every time I pass out the books she tells me “I can’t see” so I do not give her a book. We seem to be growing close to the staff at West Jax and many of them stay in the room for our services. One of the ladies on staff testified of God’s goodness and graciousness. It was a good time! Aug 20th, Cedar Hills- We had really great services. We had one lady, who is a new and unknown person to me, who came to us at the end of the services and told us that she appreciated our singing and that she had once sang in a choir. I could tell because I could hear her singing out to the Lord during our services. Sis Betty, Joan and Teresa sang a special, one of my favorites, “It Is Well With My Soul,” what a blessing! It was a very emotional song for us as they sang it in honor of Mr. Ingram (one of our resident attendees). I can still see Mr. Ingram sitting at the piano and playing the keys to God’s glory. Mr. Ingram would have to drag his oxygen around and it really slowed him down. We all got very close to Mr. Ingram and he will surely be missed! Mr. Ingram is in the presence of God now and he can breath just fine now! Aug 23rd, Life Care Center- We are still dwelling on how awesome God’s forgiveness is. It is wonderful to know that we have a forgiving God; blessed (happy) is the man…. We had good services and God blessed our efforts. Pray for Life Care Center as they have some needs. Often, we fail to acknowledge and ask prayer for the staff of these facilities. The staff has a difficult job and truly it does take a very special and caring person to work in this type of environment. Aug 27th, Cedar Hills- We continue to be blessed and keep proclaiming His word to our dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you to ALL who participated in our PRAYER PAL MONTH PROGRAM. We will never understand the results of our efforts on this side of life. We had good singing and I was truly blessed to hear the residents singing as unto the Lord this morning! I really appreciate our volunteers. Pray for more laborers/ministry partners. In Christ, Pat, David & Rachel Sounds of Joy Ministries Ministry Family 446 Halsema Rd. N. Jacksonville, Fla. 32220 |
