"Cast me not off in the time of old age, forsake me not when my strength faileth"
Psalm 71:9

April NewsLetter

Dear Friends & Family,

The month of March went by very quickly and now its April already! We had a couple of days of cold weather to start the month off with. Also had some rain and more cold weather the second week also.

April 1 - Cedar Hills - David came straight from work and very tired and sleepy as he works the night shift, but by the time our service was over he was wide awake! We had a great service. There were more people and new faces. Roy came and brought his banjo. I know it was the Lord that led David to Roy in the music store. He is a real blessing to us and he is using his talent for the Lord. The residents commented on how much they enjoyed the banjo playing! Praise the Lord! Tonya and Bro. Charles came from our church and sang a few specials and were a blessing. We are always thrilled when others come to the nursing home with us, even if its just to talk to the residents. After the service I spoke to Mrs. Jennings and a few other residents. Mrs. Jennings told me what a blessing we were to her and I told her that she was a blessing to me! Its uplifting and encouraging to us when we can uplift and encourage others in the Lord. What a great service today!

April 3 - Life Care Center - Today at the nursing home I went to get Teresa Woods to attend the services and there was no name on the door so I asked about her. The staff said she had passed away. I was sorry to hear. We had a chance in the past to talk with Teresa in her room about her salvation. She said she was saved.

April 8 - Cedar Hills - I was solo again for the services as David had training that day. It went good. I used Rachel's Karaoke machine and we had a nice service. The nurses brought in a lot of people.

April 10 - Life Care Center - spoke with Rev. Watkins before the service and brought him some info on the missionary work in Paupa New Guinea. There were some pictures with the info. He couldn't believed how it had changed since he was there in W.W. II. I pointed out a bible college and camp and he said, "what about that". He was so pleased to hear that the gospel of Jesus was being preached and taught in PNG. We had a nice crowd and good singing and preaching and then Rev. Watkins closed us in prayer. We have missed our banjo player, Roy, he has been out of town. We can't brag enough on him! Roy does a wonderful job! Praise the Lord for his talent!

April 15 - Cedar Hills - Today was our Easter service....We sang songs about the resurrection. David read a couple of devotions from Our Dailey Bread. Then we sang some more. After the service we passed out plants to the residents. You should have seen their eyes light up and comments were made on how pretty they were. Also we gave them Large Print Easter Cards and some hand crème from Avon. Every one was so happy. Its such a blessing to give (better to give than to receive) What we receive from giving is to see the residents faces light up with Joy!

April 17 - Life Care Center - David had training and had to work so I went solo again. I took Rachel's Karaoke machine and my bag with songbooks, etc. We sang songs without the music and then I read the same devotion as David read on Tuesday, then we sang more songs and after the service, I gave out more plants, cards & hand crème. One lady wanted to know if she could keep what we gave her and I said yes. She couldn't believe she could actually keep it. Everyone had smiles on their faces and were so happy to receive a gift from us! Its such a blessing.

Pray for Roy, he is on active duty I think two weeks out of the month.

I have started a project this month. You will find enclosed a short biography and picture on a nursing home resident. I talk about the residents in the nursing homes in our newsletters, and now you will get to see and know about them a little more.

April 29 - Cedar Hills - We had a good service today. I signed people up for a Large Print "Our Daily Bread" devotional which is free. We already are distributing a number of them there. But we are getting new people coming to the services that do not receive a devotional who want one.
