Some Staggering Statistics
- It is projected that unless God intervenes at least 40 million of us now living in the U.S. will spend our final days in a Nursing Home.
- There are less than 20,000 skilled care nursing homes and more then 350,000 churches in America. Over 2,000 people die in nursing homes each day, many without a friend to hold their hand (Adopt a Resident; Prayer Pals; etc)
- It is believed that in years ahead that almost every North American Family will include a member in a Nursing Home. Current statistics number 1.7 million people who are receiving such care.
- More than 50% of nursing home residents have no living close relative, which may be related to the estimate that 60% of nursing home residents have no visitors. (http://www.therubins.com/homes/stathome.htm)
- Today’s Nursing Homes are attractive; the physical/social needs of the residents are usually adequately met, but the spiritual needs are neglected
- Most Nursing Home residents have had to reduce life’s material possessions to what fits into 3 dresser drawers, sometimes in a matter of days. (We see this)
- Did you know...? Some foreign missionaries give their entire productive lives to working with people groups less than the size of most nursing homes.
To love and be loved gives a person purpose and hope for tomorrow. When these are missing, many find no reason for living. Sounds of Joy Ministries Ministry Family 446 Halsema Rd. N. Jacksonville, FL 32220 |
