How To Please Our Heavenly Father

Purpose of Pleasing God

1. God made us - Fleshly parents birthed, but God made us specifically to fellowship with Him
2. God forgave us - Though man (Adam) broke fellowship with Him/He restored it.
3. God loved us and loves us - He set His only begotten Son to be a propitiation for our sin.
4. God cares for us - (Rm 8:28) Providential care/Hedge is built around us.
5. God is preparing for our arrival in our new home.

I) Please God by ......... Keeping His commandments.

1. John 14:15 - Jesus stated, "If ye love me, keep my commandments"
1. Beneficial to both God and Child of God
   Ex 20:6 - God will show mercy to those that love Him and keep His commandments (In this chapter: God is giving Moses the 10 Comm.).
2. God will lengthen your days (speaking to Solomon) - (I kings 3:14)
3. Obedience stems from a loving and thankful spirit - 1Jn 5:2 - For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not grievous.

II) Please God by ..........unquestioning obedience (Example of Issiac)

1. Jesus was obedient unto death (Phil 2:8)
2. Disciples obedience cost a martyr's death
3. Our obedience is a pre-requisite for receipt of blessing.

III) Please God by your.........Faithfulness

1. Abraham was faithful in offering Issiac (Type of Christ)
2. Moses took on Pharaoh and the powerful Egyptian Kingdom
1. Crossed over the Red Sea
2. Led a rebellious and disobedient people (makes faithfulness difficult)
3. Yes, faithfulness pertains to all of us) The widow who tossed in two mites/The lady who gave Elijah the last of her food. Rahab hid the spies

IV) Please God by fearing Him with a reverential fear. (Ps 111:10) - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

1. Fearfulness clears the way for wisdom and understanding
1. Until you respect what something can do, you will never be able to successfully adapt it into your life (God's Word, Power of Prayer, Miracle and Wonders).
2. Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man

V) Please God by................. Fellowship

1. By way of praise
2. By way of prayer
3. By way of worship
4. By way of meditation
5. By way of reading His Word. Make sure that you also listen for His voice.

CONC.

1. Strive to be pleasing to Him in all of our beings
1. Through thoughts
2. Through speeches
3. Through motions (gestures, actions etc...)
2. At least once a week, examine yourselves before God to see if your life is measuring up to His standards
1. Are your goals in line with His desires for your life
